Alexia Vaun Hefflyunn Serves as Class Orator during Curry College Commencement

Alexia Vaun Hefflyunn of Plymouth, Mass. served as the continuing education Class Orator during Curry College Commencement on Sunday, May 18. In her address, Vaun Hefflyunn , a business management major, said that that receiving her degree does not represent the finish line for her--rather it is just another milestone in the relay of life.

"My experience at Curry helped me answer the question, 'what if', and changed it to the question 'what's next?" said Vaun Hefflyunn. "I am not sure what I am to become. But I do know that Curry College has helped provide me with the tools, the fortitude, and the desire to discover what is possible."

During the Commencement ceremony, Karen Kaplan, Chairman and CEO of advertising agency Hill Holliday, served as Commencement speaker and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration degree.

The College also honored Deborah C. Jackson, President of Cambridge College, with an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree.

Founded in 1879, Curry College is a private, four-year, liberal arts institution located on 131 acres in Milton, MA. Curry extends its educational programs to a continuing education branch campus in Plymouth, MA. Curry offers 20 undergraduate majors, as well as graduate degrees in business, education, criminal justice and nursing, with a combined enrollment of approximately 4,150 students. The student body consists of approximately 2,000 traditional undergraduate students, 1,650 continuing education and 500 graduate students. Curry College students come from 31 states and 7 countries. Over 1,400 of its students reside on the Curry campus. The largest majors are business management, communication, nursing, criminal justice and education. The College offers a wide array of extra-curricular activities ranging from 14 NCAA division III athletic teams to an outstanding theatre program.
