Curry College Inducts Megan Tavares into Psi Chi International Honor Society

Curry College is proud to announce that Megan Tavares of Taunton has been inducted into Psi Chi, the International Honor Society in Psychology. Megan was one of 14 students inducted during a ceremony on the Curry College campus on Friday, December 9.

Founded in 1929, Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose is to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology. More than 700,000 lifetime members have joined in this worthwhile cause including Distinguished Members such as Drs. Albert Bandura, B. F. Skinner, and Phillip Zimbardo.

In order to qualify for Psi Chi at Curry College a student must be a psychology major or minor who has taken at least three semesters of coursework, including completion of at least nine semester credit hours of psychology courses at Curry with a minimum 3.40 GPA in those courses, as well as a minimum 3.40 GPA overall. Students must also exhibit integrity, professionalism, and respect for others.

"Membership in Psi Chi is such a wonderful opportunity for our most accomplished students in Psychology. The work of these inductees has been nothing short of exemplary; all of us in the Psychology Department are extremely proud of these students," said Eric Weiser, Ph.D., Chair, Curry College Department of Psychology and Psi Chi Faculty Advisor.
