Curry College Recognizes Students Involved in the Black Box Production of "Sganarelle"

2017 Nov 7

Curry College is pleased to announce that Dedham resident Jenn Tegnell has been cast as Sganarelle's wife in Curry Theatre's production of "Sganarelle." Jenn, a Senior Communication major and daughter of Kathy Widger and Geoff Tegnell, is no stranger to the Curry stage. Prior to her upcoming role in "Sganarelle," she played Eleanor in "Big Love," Alyssa in "American Idiot," Milky White in "Into the Woods," and performed in the chorus of "Is This a Test?" Off stage, Jenn has held several positions on the Curry Theatre supervisory board, including assistant stage manager, stage manager, and currently serves as the practicum and executive board recorder. Outside of Curry, Jenn has performed in the ensemble of "Drowsy Chaperone," as Glinda in the "Wizard of Oz," and Tammy in "School House Rock Live."

Curry Theatre is proud to present a pair of old-school comedies during its Fall 2017 Black Box production of "Sganarelle" and "The World-Famous Farce of Peter Quill."

"Sganarelle," directed by Betsy Goldman, is a one-act comedy written by Moliere that explores the consequences of jealousy in an absurd series of arguments and misunderstandings involving Sganarelle, his wife, and young lovers, Celie and Lelie.

"The World-Famous Farce of Peter Quill," directed by David Miller, is a situation comedy that is more than 500 years old yet reminds us of life today. Quill, an amateur lawyer and master scam artist, and his wife, Madge bamboozle Joss, the cloth merchant, out of his goods. However, Quill's luck does not last forever, as his clever tricks start to backfire.
