Curry College Recognizes Students Involved in the Black Box Production of "Sganarelle"

2017 Nov 7

Curry College is pleased to announce that Burlington resident Taylor Hays has been cast as a relative of Sganarelle's wife in Curry Theatre's production of "Sganarelle." Taylor, a senior Communication major and daughter of Tim and Rebecca Hays, is no stranger to the Curry stage. Prior to her upcoming role in "Sganarelle," she appeared as Bella in "Big Love," Suzy in "Happy Birthday Baby Girl," and as the mother in "Is This a Test?" Off stage, Taylor is the props manager, and has served as house and box manager and assistant costumer.

Curry Theatre is proud to present a pair of old-school comedies during its Fall 2017 Black Box production of "Sganarelle" and "The World-Famous Farce of Peter Quill."

"Sganarelle," directed by Betsy Goldman, is a one-act comedy written by Moliere that explores the consequences of jealousy in an absurd series of arguments and misunderstandings involving Sganarelle, his wife, and young lovers, Celie and Lelie.

"The World-Famous Farce of Peter Quill," directed by David Miller, is a situation comedy that is more than 500 years old yet reminds us of life today. Quill, an amateur lawyer and master scam artist, and his wife, Madge bamboozle Joss, the cloth merchant, out of his goods. However, Quill's luck does not last forever, as his clever tricks start to backfire.
